Revert Auction State

Under certain conditions Admins can change an auction back to its previous state, for example from In Progress back to Planned. An Admin might have incorrectly launched an auction as Timed when it should have been Live. The time of an auction might have changed and need editing, after already launched.  An auction might need to be postponed and so date changed, after already launched. This new feature can make things much easier in such circumstances.

Scenario 1 - Changing an auction from timed to live when the timed sale has launched
but there have been no bids.

You may decide to change from holding a timed auction and instead change to a live sale. This is easier to do if the timed auction has no current bids.

1. Go to Actions drop down and choose Revert Auction State - type in the sale title to confirm

2. Your auction is now reverted to a Planned state but you will need to unlock the auction in order to edit it.

3. Once the auction is unlocked, you can then edit it from the Actions drop down and change the auction type - you will be prompted to add a location for you live sale. (You may also want to change other information for the live sale before saving).

And that is it! - Your auction can now be re-launched as a live sale

Scenario 2 - Changing the auction from timed to live when the timed sale has launched and there have been bids.

If you really need to change a timed auction to a live auction and there have been bids on the timed sale, you will need to remove the bids first before the system will allow you to revert the auction. To remove any bids you will need to open the lot from the catalogue, scroll to the bids and click the red delete icon.  Then follow steps 1 to 3 above to change the auction to a live sale.
